Art in the City

This year I have taken over the running of the Art in the City programme. The first activity of 2017- a visit to A Sketch of the Universe – will take place tomorrow (12 Jan) at the City Art Centre at 10:30.

Art in the City provides an opportunity for people whose lives are affected by dementia to share a gallery visit and discuss art (and other things) in a friendly and supportive environment.

We are a friendly, diverse group of people who meet on the second Thursday of the month  (from 10:30-12:00) to visit art galleries (and sometimes museums and historic buildings).

The next two sessions will take place on:

9 February: 10:30-12: The city’s art collections (slideshow) at the City Art Centre, 2 Market Street, Edinburgh. EH1 1DE

9 March: 10:30-12: Tour of Lauriston Castle, 2a Cramond Road South, Edinburgh EH4 5QD

Art in the City is run by volunteers and staff from Edinburgh Museums & Galleries and is mainly based at the City Art Centre. However we do visit other museums and galleries, so please contact us prior to attending for a full programme and for further information.

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
