Maps and memories

Over the last week I have been running activities all over Edinburgh. Yesterday I went out with the Museums Alive volunteers for the last session of a three week block at Marionville Court Care Home. We ran a reminiscence session exploring holidays and travel. We then created this map showing places that the residents had visited.

I have also visited two schools. At Currie Primary I spoke to the P2 class about toys in the past and at East Craigs Primary I ran sessions for the two P5 classes on Victorian games. If you work in a school and would like to find out more about borrowing our loan boxes or arranging a visit, do visit our website or get in touch to find out more.

But, the week doesn’t end there! This afternoon I am going out to Forthland Lodge Care Home to run a reminiscence session with the residents.

Tomorrow you can catch me as a speaker at the ‘Your Future in the Past’ Careers fair. If you are interested in coming along, you can find out more on the poster below.

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
