Here is more information on the webinar and the other speaker, Carlos Paiva, who will speak about the Cultural Coupon scheme in Brazil.

August 5th 16:00 to 17:00 [GMT (London) Time]. 12.00 noon Rio time

CITIZEN CURATOR, CITY OF EDINBURGH MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES, U.K. Diana Morton, Outreach and Access Manager for Edinburgh Museums and Galleries, outlines Citizen Curator, a two year outreach project, developed with arts and community organisations, to engage young people with the heritage of Leith (located to the north of Edinburgh, this was once a busy port and is now a regeneration area). The project culminated in an exhibition at the City Art Centre, where collections items chosen by the participants were displayed alongside their own work. Citizen Curator celebrated Leith’s past and explored its vibrant and diverse present.

VALE CULTURA (CULTURAL COUPON), MINISTRY OF CULTURE, BRAZIL Carlos Paiva, Secretary of Development and Promotion of Culture in The Brazilian Ministry of Culture, will outline the Vale Cultura. This is a ($21 a month) coupon for employees to use on ‘culture’ – from theaters, exhibitions and cinema to DVDs, dance lessons and books. The coupon is available to poorer workers and paid through companies that get tax breaks to participate. Cultural consumption is democratized and increased. http://www.cultura.gov.br/valecultura

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
