Museum Boot Camp 2015

Over the last two weeks Museum Boot Camp has been running at the Museum Collections Centre. Boot Camp is an intensive and fun training course designed for people who want to gain an insight into museum work and learn new skills. It  combines volunteering with hands-on training and talks from museum professionals.

Boot Camp this year has been run by my colleagues Nico and Gemma and I have enjoyed being involved in some of the sessions. I ran a session on outreach and careers on Monday and have been helping behind the scenes and with some other sessions.

Boot Camp will cumulate in a new exhibition at the People’s Story Museum which will be open to the public from Saturday.

Here are some photos of my outreach session:

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
