Spring Fling and more

If you were around Morningside on the 11th April, you may have noticed something happening at the Eric Liddell Centre. It was the annual Spring Fling, run by South Edinburgh Arts Fair Association. With two lovely helpers- Russell and Ross we ran a reminiscence stall at the event.

Other highlights this month have included: Meeting a group of museum professionals from Singapore and talking about the Citizen Curator project at the Scottish Museums Federation Conference in Perth.

The Museums Alive volunteers have just completed a block of sessions at Fords Road Care Home and have started a new block at Silverlea Care Home. I’ve also been out visiting lots of groups to run reminiscence, including War Blinded Scotland, Forthland Lodge Care Home and the Western General and Royal Infirmary hospitals.

I also attended the launch of the new online resource collecting Edinburgh memories: Edinburgh Collected. It is a fantastic resource developed by Edinburgh Libraries, do give it a look!

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
