Street games sessions, volunteering and activities

Over the next month you can catch the Outreach team running street games holiday activities at libraries around Edinburgh.

4 July: I will be at Moredun Library 2-3.30.

8 July: I will be at Currie Library 10.30-11.30 and Balerno Library 1-2pm.

14 July: Russell will be at Colinton Library 2.30-3.30

7 August: I will be at Wester Hailes Library 2-3pm.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been working with a range of groups including Scotland for Beginners (for people who have recently moved here and are learning English), Oxgangs Library Chatterbooks group (a children’s reading group) and D Café (a support group run by Alzheimer Scotland for people with dementia and their carers).

I’ve also been out at Ocean Terminal running reminiscence and World War 1 themed activities for the Living Memory Association and Disability History Scotland.

The Museums Alive volunteers have been busy too. They have been working in Clovenstone House Care Home and on Wednesday two new volunteers came out for their first sessions- welcome on board Lorna and Jacqueline!

In other news, it is very exciting to see the Writers’ Museum volunteers featured on the Museums + Heritage Awards website. If you want to find out more about volunteering with us, visit our volunteering pages.

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
