It has been an exciting time here at the City Art Centre as the Science Festival takes over the building. But here behind the scenes too plenty is happening.
The Museums Alive volunteers have just finished a block of sessions at Drumbrae Day Centre, and if you are out at Drumbrae Library you can see our new exhibition ‘Fashions and Passions’ there (see photo above). It was also Claire’s last day volunteering before moving to Vietnam!
I’ve been out to the South Edinburgh Arts Fair with a stall (see photo above). It was a busy day but very rewarding, with lots of people coming along despite the terrible weather.
I’ve also started working with Victoria Primary to develop new displays for the Wee Museum of Newhaven. The children came in to visit the Museum Collections Centre to view our collections in storage and yesterday I went out to visit the school to write object labels for the display with the children. (See photos above and below for the current display).
Also those at the Generations Working Together Conference may have met Laura, our Heritage and Outreach Assistant who was running a stall with Museums Galleries Scotland on intergenerational learning in museums and on the previous projects with Victoria Primary
