Seeking Leithers and new Adult Education course

Happy New Year! I’m just back at work after annual leave so there are a few things to update you on.

One of the really big projects this year will be Citizen Curator. This will explore the heritage of Leith through our art and history collections. We will be working in particular with young people and young adults in the Leith area, but we are looking for feedback from all Leithers about what you would like to see in an exhibition about Leith.

Would you like to see historical paintings such as The Port of Leith, 1924, more recent Leith scenes such as Great Junction Street, historical banners such as this Dockers Banner or items from our history collections? If you have any suggestions or feedback we would love to hear your views. You can answer via this blog or email diana.morton@edinburgh.gov.uk. I will be posting about this project quite a bit over the next few months, so I will keep you all updated.

In other news, Adult Education will be running a Hidden Histories course exploring our venues from 25 Jan. You can find out more on the Adult Education website.

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.

My friend had designed t-shirt prints based on images from around Leith, I think they are great, maybe worth having a look?
