Final Museums Alive before holidays and new projects for January!

I’m just back at my desk after the last Museums Alive session of 2012. It was a chance for the volunteers to feed back about their experiences and have some mince pies, tea and a chat. We also had some amazing storytelling courtesy of Erin and Stella showed everyone one of the resource boxes she had been working on. The project will be restarting in January on Wednesdays.

Another project starting in January is with Dalmeny Primary. We are going to develop a display with the school. The children are going to help select objects for display on the topics of World War II and Toys and Games. Yesterday I went out to visit the school to discuss the practicalities of running the project. I’m really looking forward to getting going with it.

To give you an idea of what will be in the exhibition, here are some street games you may recognise:

About edinburghmuseumsoutreach

I'm the Outreach & Access Manager at Edinburgh Museums & Galleries (the museums service of the City of Edinburgh Council). I take the museums out to community groups and schools. I really enjoy meeting lots of people of different ages and backgrounds and helping them connect with our collections. I love showing people some of the amazing objects that we hold and I like helping them to remember the past or to create something amazing.
